Orthopedics is the branch of medicine that deals with the study and treatment of congenital, acquired or traumatic pathologies of the musculoskeletal system.
The most frequent pathologies in the orthopedic field are represented by growth alterations (scoliosis, flat foot, osteo-articular malformations) and mono or polyarticular biomechanical overload pathologies (pain in the spine, shoulder, carpal tunnel, meniscopathies, etc); more rarely it deals with systemic diseases of endocrine, autoimmune and neoplastic origin.
The diagnosis and the therapeutic direction can be conservative (corsets, orthotics, corrective braces, physical therapies), physiotherapy / osteopathic and surgical.
