Physiatry

Physiatry (or more correctly Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine) is a medical-specialist discipline that deals with re-enabling the patient, to make him again "able" to do the things he did before dealing with the functional consequences generated by muscle diseases. skeletal or nervous (work activity, trauma, incorrect posture, age, stress and much more affect our musculoskeletal system, often modifying it irreversibly) ._ cc781905-5cde-3194-bb3b-136bad5cf58d_

The physiatrist must be able to understand on the single individual to what extent it is possible to restore this organism to well-being and allow it to recover as much as is allowed by the problem, acute or chronic.

Recall that the definition of "health" is, for the World Health Organization, "il  maximum degree of bio-psycho-social well-being" of a person.

The physiatrist globally evaluates the patient, immersed in his daily life, trying to explore every single facet, considering him unique and unrepeatable.

At the end of the visit, the Physiatrist proposes a rehabilitation program studied on the individual and entrusts the patient to the fundamental figures of the rehabilitation team to try to solve the existing problems.

The world of rehabilitation is divided into two main branches, orthopedic and neurological , from which all the other branches start and take on their own dignity: urogynecological, cognitive, developmental and phlebolymphological rehabilitation.

Orthopedic rehabilitation:

deals with all congenital musculoskeletal problems  or acquired (trauma, interventions, rheumatological pathologies or pains of arthritic origin ...)

Neurological rehabilitation:

deals with problems, congenital or acquired, related to the  central or peripheral nervous system (perinatal brain suffering, stroke, nerve injuries ...) ._ cc781905-5cde-3194-bb3b-136bad5cf58d_

The task of the Physiatrist is therefore to make an overall assessment of each clinical history and of each individual who turns to him to guide him in the recovery of his well-being.
